Working Too Hard

A big shout out to all of our medical professionals who have been putting in many times the work and taking many times the risk of the rest of us to get everyone through the epidemic.

One of our own local physicians darn near worked herself to exhaustion, until two of the nurses had to stage an intervention, and gave her a checkup herself while they were at it. Based on the photos they sent me, she sure needed it!

Of course, I think they might regret it once this is all over and Donna has the time to pay their butts back with interest. Just because she needed it doesn't mean there won't be consequences!

Double Dose

I drove Perry in for an exam earlier this week. We won't get into his medical situation, but it's nothing too serious, don't worry. 😄 It seemed like pretty smooth sailing, but then he somehow managed to knock over a sample jar and broke it while the nurse was doing his job. We both helped clean it up, but poor nurse Pietro told him that he wasn't going to get away with his carelessness unpunished, and that it would probably be in his best interest to let him take care of it instead of letting the doctor take it upon herself.

I've never seen that boy on the giving end before, so this was an interesting turn of events, albeit a tragically ironic one. Because, well...despite Pietro's best efforts, it didn't make a difference.

Oh well.~

Haunted House Of Halloween Horrors

Happy Halloween, y'alls! Last night was pretty wild. There's a townhouse a couple neighborhoods away that a friend of a friend said was going to put on one heck of a display, and one that might be relevant to my particular interests. They were right on both counts!

So, first things first. The haunted house tour starts (like fun often does) with entry through the back door. They had a bit of a yard squished up against the neighboring fences, and that acted as the leadup to their jack-o-lantern display.

Nice, round pumpkins. Our scarecrow greeter seems to have gotten hot candlewax all over them repeatedly, but accidents happen you know?

We heard ominous giggling and chanting from behind the door, and after being ushered through it we came upon a scene of ghastly diabolism.

I guess it's an improvement over conventional witchcraft, what with only the victim's butt being sacrificed instead of the entire thing. More sustainable, I suspect, since you can reuse them.

The next room featured a curiously genderflipped appearance by Count Dracula and Mina Harker. 

Though I do have to say, Dracula's outfit looked more like an indecisive attempt at Dio Brando than anything else...and the Countess might have also thought more carefully about how much skin she was showing and how much makeup this would neccessitate. Still, the enthusiasm from both parties more than made up for it!

Finally, the house included the laboratory of an aneurotypical empiricist performing some spooky and absolutely 100% ethical experiments.

I'm not sure what concoction she was testing, exactly, but if thrashing and muffled cries were the desired result I'd call it a smashing success! Can't wait for the patent.

That was the whole walking tour. Some really interesting people live here, I'll be sure to try and get in touch with them in the future. For now, I hope you all enjoyed the holiday as much as I did.

Running Too Hot

I was as surprised as anyone else at Sunday morning's turn of events!

No one's ever accused Jill of lacking enthusiasm, for her job or anything else she does for that matter, but I guess she isn't always at her most attentive. In chasing a certain rule-breaking miscreant across the sand that morning, she literally stumbled into a reminder of why rules against running exist in the first place.

I guess it's lucky for her that that boy's drink wasn't super expensive, or I don't think he'd have let her off with just a hand spanking. On the other hand...I haven't quite had the heart to tell her yet about the aforementioned rulebreaker turning around to see the show, or about my not being the only one to record the event for posterity's sake. Well, it's not like there's going to be any future repercussions of that, right?

Speaking of the future though, I'd tread veeeeery lightly on the beach for this next week or two. It might be a while before Jill is in a lenient or forgiving mood after this.

A New Nurse

Terribly sorry for my extended absence. I've been having a hectic time, including some health issues recently. On the plus side, I happened to get a good art opportunity at the hospital.

I don't know the new nurse's name yet, but I saw Dr. McCabe helping her get accustomed to her new work environment. I'm sure I'll see her again someday in the not too distant future.

Shower Time Company

I drew this picture in a slightly different style from my usual perfect true-to-life photorealism. I like how it turned out, but it also took me much longer, so I'm not sure how often I'll be using this style. 

But, anyway.

These two had been making doe eyes at each other and playing little pranks on one another ever since they both started working together, to the point where the management started to raise eyebrows at the effect on their performances. Today, when he was on break, he went into the employee locker/shower room and found her in there when she was supposed to be in the middle of her shift. It's been a hot, sweaty day over here, but that doesn't make this behavior any more forgivable, especially if it means someone else will have to pick up the slack.

My understanding is that they're much more comfortable and relaxed around each other now. I haven't seen her sit down since the morning incident, but that's a negligible price to pay.
